History of Shark Teeth

Tybee Island is a well-known destination to find fossilized shark teeth. The shark teeth found on Tybee Island can come from a variety of shark species that inhabited the region over the geological ages. Shark Teeth are so common because of the dredging of the Savannah River onto the beaches of Tybee Island. This deposits shark teeth and other fossils onto the beaches that were pulled from the bottom of the ocean floor.
